SAILING ACTIVITIES: Winter Sailing

The 2009/10 Winter Sailing season started on Sunday, October 25, 2009.

Celebrating 55 years of Frostbiting at SCYC


Boats Used:  Dyer Dhows, Lasers, and Voyager 1Meter Radio Controlled

Schedule:  Sunday afternoons from November 1, 2009
to April 6, 2010 

Start/Finish: Radio Control: 10:30, Dyers, and Lasers 1:00pm First Gun. No races started after 3:30pm.

Format: 5 to 7 short course, collegiate style races run from a stationary RC platform (The Peppermint Lounge).

Awards: Annual awards dinner in April at the Main Clubhouse. Prizes to each class as well as nominations for 'special' performances.

A
verage Fleet Size:  8 1Meters, 22 Lasers, and 4 Dyers.

Safety:  Two crashboats with drivers. Wetsuits or Drysuits required. Life Jackets are required at all times.

Sailing Facilities:  Docks, launching ramp, club-owned dollies, storage on outdoor racks.

Boat charters:  Several Dyers and a couple of Lasers are available for season charter.

Clubhouse: Junior clubhouse with fireplace and big-screen TV serves lunch before racing  until 2:30 & hot/cold beverages after racing till closing.

Membership:  Open to SCYC members and non-SCYC members (includes dining/bar privileges).

Fee Schedule: Please see the entry form for this year's rates.

New sailors are welcome to try the program for up to 2 weekends before membership fees are assessed
