Clubhouse & Shore- Tennis

Tennis Anyone !
I would like to invite and encourage members who enjoy playing tennis, to join us on Saturday mornings for a competitive but, above all, enjoyable men’s doubles. We will begin playing Saturday, June 1, and each following Saturday morning starting promptly at 9:00 am. As always, there will be coffee and bagels available court side at 8:30 am. Confirmation of attendance is preferred by not required, either at the front desk or via email at the email address below.
Doubles teams are chosen courtside each Saturday.
Remember, only tennis rubber-soled shoes may be used on the courts. Proper whites are required

Membership Privileges
Membership includes the use of the tennis courts. Children of members (17 years old and younger) may use the courts if members have not reserved them. See the front desk for available times and reservations.

Guest Privileges
Guests are allowed to use the courts if they are available.

Playing Time
The courts are open at 8:00 a.m. Playing time is limited to one hour for singles and one and a half hours for doubles unless courts are not reserved and no one is waiting.

Reservations
Courts may be reserved for playing periods by signing the playing schedule at the front desk or telephoning the front desk. Reservations may not be made more than five days in advance. Members may reserve a court only once per day. On weekends and holidays, the courts are primarily reserved for Club members.

Play
Only tennis rubber-soled shoes may be used on the courts. Proper whites are required.

SCYC Tennis Pro

Steve Abbondondelo is a graduate of Queens College and holds a degree in Physical Education. He is a USPTA and PTR certified professional who has been teaching for over fifteen years. In addition he has been active with the USTA and USPTA where he received numerous awards from both organizations.

His teaching philosophy is that he sees tennis as a sport that offers enjoyment for everyone at all levels, young and old and that playing tennis regularly can improve overall mental and physical fitness. He feels that tennis is truly a sport for a lifetime.

SCJYC Tennis Director

TENNIS PROGRAMS AND PRIVATE LESSONS

SCJYC is proud to welcome our new multi-sport and tennis director Joshua Wolfson!  He and his staff will be our Tennis Program leaders.  Through fun games and developmental drills, players will work to improve coordination, balance, speed and agility as they develop their tennis skills. The Junior Tennis programs include PeeWee/Quick Start (ages 4-7), Junior Development Beginner and Junior Development Intermediate. These programs are offered a-la Carte and participants will meet with tennis staff for six 1.5-hour sessions on either Fridays or Saturday mornings.
